Neurodivergence

Therapy that understands your brain without asking you to change who you are

Therapy for neurodivergence in New York and New Jersey

Being neurodivergent can feel exhausting, not because of who you are, but because of the constant pressure to function in ways that don’t fit how you’re wired.

When you’re neurodivergent, whether that means ADHD, autism, sensory sensitivity, or a brain that doesn’t follow the “typical” script, everyday life can feel heavier than it seems for others.

You may have spent years trying to keep up, hold it together, or meet expectations that never quite fit.

After long stretches of masking, overcompensating, or pushing through, it makes sense if you’re exhausted.

What you’re missing isn’t effort.

It’s support that understands how your brain works and makes room for your needs.

I take a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to this work. That means we focus on understanding how your brain functions, building on what works, and creating strategies that support your wiring rather than trying to reshape it.

Therapy isn’t about fixing you.

It’s about understanding your wiring and helping you live in a way that works with it instead of against it.

how i can help

We focus on understanding your wiring, not forcing change that doesn’t fit.

Together, we may:

  • Learn how your brain processes information, stimulation, and emotion

  • Identify patterns that have been mislabeled as flaws but were actually adaptations

  • Understand masking, burnout, shutdown, and overwhelm

  • Build regulation tools that don’t rely on pushing through

  • Develop strategies that support focus, organization, and energy management

  • Strengthen communication so it feels clear and authentic

Therapy becomes a place where you don’t have to script, shrink, or over-explain.

For Parents

If you are a parent of a neurodivergent child or teen, I also work closely with you.

Parenting a neurodivergent child can feel overwhelming at times, especially when systems don’t naturally accommodate your child’s needs.

My work with parents focuses on helping you feel more grounded, informed, and equipped to support your child. When families feel supported and regulated, it often strengthens the child’s overall progress, including in school.

Being neurodivergent often means navigating environments built around one expected way of thinking, working, and communicating.

Over time, that mismatch can lead to:

Chronic self-doubt

Burnout and anxiety

Shame around productivity

Feeling “behind”

Feeling misunderstood

Part of this work is separating who you are from the messages you absorbed about how you were “supposed” to function.

Imagine if:

You understood your energy patterns instead of fighting them

You built routines that actually worked for your brain

You could communicate your needs without apology

You experienced less burnout

You felt more at home in your own wiring

You don’t need to become more “typical” to live well. You need support that fits.

I want you to know:

You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone

You may have spent years trying to make things work on your own. You don’t have to keep doing that.

Therapy can be a place to understand your wiring more clearly and build strategies that actually fit.

Common questions about therapy for neurodivergence

  • No. You don’t need a label to deserve understanding or support. Whether you’ve been formally diagnosed, self-identified, or are still exploring, therapy can help you make sense of your experiences.

  • That’s completely okay. Therapy can be a place to explore patterns, revisit old narratives about being “lazy” or “too sensitive,” and understand yourself through a more accurate and compassionate lens.

  • Yes. I work with neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, and I also support parents who are navigating how best to understand and advocate for their child.

  • I can assess and diagnose within the context of therapy and treatment planning. However, if you need formal documentation for school accommodations, medication management, or comprehensive testing, that requires evaluation by a psychologist or medical provider who specializes in formal assessments. I can help connect you with appropriate providers if needed.
